Off to Vietnam!

Cool! Another mini trip. It feels kind of strange going on all these mini trips from my big trip.  It almost feels like nothing that I'm going to Vietnam tomorrow. Normally on previous big trips to Europe or Asia or somewhere I'd feel all hyped up and be rushing to prepare and super excited. But with this trip I don't feel anything haha.  It doesn't feel real. Perhaps because everything was planned and booked months ago so I'm just literally putting some shirts into my backpack tonight and then taking the bus to the airport.

Though I know I'm gonna have an amazing time because even my short trip to HK turned out to be a big success so while I don't feel anything now, I know I'm gonna have a blast!

And I should also say that I do realize how lucky I am!  I've been traveling all over the place in the last 6 months, seeing some incredible things and meeting even more incredible people and I know that many people are not as able or have the opportunity to do so. So I thank my lucky stars for this blessing.

As for the blog, i'll be writing it on my smart phone the whole time but probably won't be posting stuff until I get back unless your lucky. On our second day we are hiking into the back country villages of Sapa so I doubt there is Internet. Then for the later half of the trip we are going cruising on a junket in Ha Long bay for a few days. Should be rad!

That's it for now and see you when I get back!

Western Cuisine and McWTH...

Had a fantastic meal today at a secret restaurant in Nankam (north of Cingpu and West of Taoyuan).

We ordered several dishes and split everything.  It was delicious!  10/10.  I haven't had much pasta/western food so it really reminded me of all the things I can't wait to eat again when I come back to Canada.  Plus the prices at this place were very reasonable.  It came to around $12 per person.

The chicken kiev was probably my favorite because it had a really nice.. lemony thing going on in the sauce inside of it and it came with mashed potatoes!  I've been craving these since I moved out here in the summer.  I think this is actually my first time having them since Canada and omg I forgot how much I like them!

Greek Salad

Chicken Kiev, Salmon Alfredo, Scallop/Sea Urchin Pasta

Creamy French Onion Soup au Gratin

Apple Pie

After lunch we went to wander around TaiMall, a large newly rennovated mall close by.  Not much to report except these ridiculous pictures we took at McDonalds.  I don't think we've done something this childish in a long time... hahaha

ps - no fries were wasted in the making of this ridiculous portrait.

Summer weather in Nov + new glasses + more

Summer weather in mid November. I love it!  Today I went to Jhong Li with Niki and Ali to buy me a new pair of glasses. The glasses are so much cheaper here than Canada so Eliza and I thought it would be a good idea to get a second pair.

I already had a good idea of the type I wanted and I actually ended up buying a pair of gucci's that I had tried on before when Eliza bought hers a month ago.  The total came to about $175CAD which is pretty good for designer glasses with high quality lenses.  Plus they checked my eyes for me too.

After the glasses we went for sushi lunch and then picked up Ashley.  We didn't really have any plans so we just hung out.  We went to Toys R Us and goofed around there for a while...

Next was food so we parked at Ali's parents place and went to one of the Taoyuan night markets.  This particular night market is special to me because it's the first real authentic night I ever went to in my life back when I came to Taiwan in 2007.  As we walked around I spotted familiar vendors so it was really cool that not much had changed in the past 3 years and it gave the place a "timeless" feel.  There was even a video game vendor that we walked by and Ali said that him and Johan used to play video games there when they were kids!

We stopped at two places for lunch.  The first was a deep fried stinky tofu place.  The deep fried stinky tofu is a lot less stinky than when it's in a soup.  This one was a tad bit too sadly but it came with some pickled cabbage and I enjoyed it overall.

Next we had some fried oyster omlette.  It's a Taiwan specialty made from egg mixed with some diced greens with oysters folded into it with a pink semi-sweet sauce on top.  I haven't had it since the first time I had it in 2007 and it was better than I remembered :)  I'd order it again!

Thanks for the great day out guys!  It was about time I went outside of the cave at home.

Android Games Launched!

Hey!  We launched our first Android games :D  At this moment in time there's a bit over 3000 downloads for our free versions and they're rated around 4-4.5/5 stars.  Not to shabby :)  The games are called Willy In The Cup and Willy's Roulette.  Support us and buy them!  It's only $1 for the full version.  I'm proud that I've been able to learn enough programming on my own to make these two games.  They're fairly simple but we're proud fathers!
